In an era of manufactured music, Australian singer-songwriter Leigh Marks shines with a style rooted in nature, growth, and authenticity. Calling music, a “refuge” he blends Roots, Blues, and Rock into a tranquil yet profound sound. Raised west of Sydney, Leigh turned to music to rise above a life’s challenges. Influenced by artists like Ben Harper and Chris Cornell, his songs reflect a love of nature and emotional depth. For Leigh, music is a healing journey, offering more than entertainment. His songs create an immersive experience, inviting listeners to find comfort and reflection. Fronting the band Crow of the Cloud, he has been on the same bill as Billy Idol, Sepultura, the late Taylor Hawkins, supported Wirtz and preceded Ingo Pohlmann on stage as part of the band and as a solo artist. When COVID-19 struck, Leigh used the isolation to craft *Mavis Said*, an album dedicated to his formidable grandmother, who embodied strength and gratitude. Her legacy weaves through the album’s fourteen tracks, where nature and resilience emerge as central themes. With water as a recurring metaphor for life’s ebb and flow, Leigh’s work, particularly the song “Where Water Flows,” reflects his grandmother’s nurturing spirit. Now, he is set to tour Europe, bringing his blend of soft blues, folk, and rock to Germany, Austria, and beyond, embodying her words to “it’s gonna be alright” and reminding us that life is what we make it.
