Swedish artist Angelica Mava is carving out a unique space as a bridge between reggae and pop, roots and mainstream, influenced by artists like Damian Marley and Rihanna. She gained attention globally on the internet in 2024 for singing her favorite foundation reggae songs, and shared the stage with Inner Circle to perform their and Jacob Miller's classic Tenement Yard in July 2025. Born on March 3, 1999, Angelica Mava grew up surrounded by Sweden’s quiet countryside, close to the ocean north of Stockholm. Reggae music entered Angelica’s life already as a child, when she fell in love with roots reggae bands and artists, as well as reggae revival and dancehall. Her introduction to the music, and first ever musical inspiration, was Welcome to Jamrock by Damian Jr. Gong Marley. In January 2025, Mava started a new reggae club in her hometown Stockholm, Stockholm Reggae Nights. After a trip to Jamaica and visits to Dub Club in Kingston, Angelica wanted something similar to be represented and available in Sweden. A reggae sanctuary in Stockholm. September 27, 2024, marked a pivotal point in Angelica’s career with the release of her international debut album, MAVA.
