Ronald Douglas
Ronald Douglas studied jazz vocals at the Hilversum Conservatory (Netherlands) with Deborah Brown. In his 3rd year he won a Jazz Vocalists Competition in Poland, where he worked with Michelle Hendricks (Jon’s daughter). Also during his study he performed with Dutch ensembles like Metropole Orkest and The Skymasters.
In his early years Ronald toured in Spain and Portugal, Scandinavia and Japan. He worked with Rita Reys, European Lady of Jazz, and recorded his 1st album with pianist Rob van Bavel. He performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival and many other festivals at the time.
Later on he did recordings with Metropole Orkest (with Rob Pronk and John Clayton) for Dutch national radio. Ronald also performed with Lee Konitz at festivals in Roosendaal (NL) and Antwerp (BE).
Furthermore he gave concerts in Israel, Brazil, Indonesia, India, toured home country The Netherlands with the classical Ricciotti Ensemble and co-starred in the musical “Larry” about the life of Lorentz Hart.
Ronald performed at the prestigious Amsterdam Concertgebouw as soloist in a Tribute to Nat King Cole and in 2006 was the first European to win an American Online Jazz Vocalists Competition, resulting in a performance at the East Coast Jazz Festival in Washington D.C.
From The Heart is his latest release (2025, ZenneZ Records), a duo album with pianist Rob van Bavel, celebrating personal stories from the American Songbook legacy.
