Biography
“On W Keefe Ave I became a street grad”, is a line from Kenny Morningstar’s Antigone that perfectly summarizes his upbringing. Born March 6th, 1999 in Milwaukee, WI, Kenny grew up on 21st and Keefe which resides in the 53206 area which is said to be the area with the highest incarceration rate in Milwaukee County. His home on 21st and Keefe and where he began recording music in the Summer of 2019. In this time he would release EP’s N Lover’s Lane Rd & W Keefe Ave where he began developing his rap style. On both projects he experimented with rapping over more industrial and contemporary sounds that would remind you of producers Icytwat and Lord Fubu whilst having a flow/cadence akin to Ab-Soul and $ilkmoney. After moving to Chicago in 2020, he would later release his third EP My Love From Another Star, a project with its setbacks but much more positives than negatives. With production from KHUMO, Joey Indigo, and BIENVENUE, MLFAS further establishes Kenny’s sound that attempts blend cloud rap and boom bap together. In a lot of Kenny Morningstar’s music, he discusses themes of death, abandonment, religion, pop culture, destiny, fate, and he seems to love the concept of absurdity. Singles like Antigone, Monte Cristo, and dontlemmedown come off as parables with Kenny discussing the many ways he was led astray in life and how there’s no real path that exist for us on our journey. There is no good nor is there evil, there only is life and the things that happen within it.
