Biography
Benjamin Samuels is an Australian saxophonist, clarinetist, producer and composer. He started learning clarinet at a young age and soon realised he had a strong passion for music. He then went on to study saxophone and clarinet at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Sandy Evans and at Monash University with Julien Wilson, completing both Jazz and Classical degrees with Honours. Ben is a versatile performer who performs professionally within various different musical genres. His mellifluous tones can be heard in and around Sydney with regular appearances at Foundry 616, Camelot and Lazy Bones. He has a wealth of experience performing nationally and internationally, showcasing his own works and alongside artists such as The Australian Art Orchestra (AUS), Sandy Evans (AUS), Aditi Ramesh (India). He also features as a permanent member of Chutney, Sydney’s most successful klezmer band. He has played at prestigious venues such as The Sydney Opera House, The Prince Band Room (Melbourne, AUS), The Roundhouse (London, UK) and The Ogden Theatre (Denver, USA). His melodic lines have also graced the stages of several music festivals around the world, the highlights of which include Rainbow (Australia), Glastonbury (UK), Ozora (Hungary), Envision (Costa Rica) and Echoes of Earth (India). His debut album Dissensation of hypnotic psychedelic dancefloor inspired jazz will be out later this year.
