it makes me wonder. what we’re doing this for. why do we do it. why we toil away for hours and hours and hours just to make something that someone may never see. why we feel the need to put something into the world. and why we want to hear the same thing we’ve heard a million times but from a different perspective. the same notes. the same chords. but in a way that makes us think. or question. or feel. even when we don’t want to. i want to feel something when I listen. i want to be let in. i want to feel uncomfortably close. i want to hear the things i can’t figure out how to say. from people who don’t say them. for people who don’t have a voice. i want to dig for meaning. i want to guess at the intention. i want to be told i’m wrong. i want chords that are familiar but bite differently. i want bass that presses on my chest. i want drums that raise my pulse. don’t get me wrong, but i don’t want a happy song. don’t you want a sad song? but one that you can dance to? there isn’t anything new here, but there might be something that makes you feel something. even if you don’t want to.
