Music is a language everyone understands. It cuts past barriers and speaks straight to the heart. For Jay Colins, music has been part of his life from the beginning. At just two years old he would hum along to classical music his grandmother played during car rides, already showing a natural ear for sound. By his early teens he was performing at notable venues, including the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. At 18 he began pursuing music professionally, diving into artist development, branding and audio engineering. But what started as ambition slowly became identity. Music became everything and it nearly cost him his life. In January 2021, Jay encountered God in a way that changed everything. He gave his life to Jesus Christ and everything shifted. Now a husband, father of four and actively involved in his church, he creates from a place of purpose, not escape. His life and his music are both aimed at revealing Jesus. “Music was my god. It’s what I lived for and where I found my identity. Now I understand every talent—even music itself—is a gift from the Lord. ‘Feel good’ music can change a mood, but vulnerable music has the power to change a life.” Jay’s music is rooted in honesty, growth and redemption—less about image, more about meaning.
