Biography
Mom’s Basement is proof that the internet has changed everything. Two music guys who found each other through the web and found that they have a special musical chemistry despite the fact that they’ve never met. “We’ve never talked on the phone - we haven’t even Skyped!” says Eric Campbell, the Atlanta based singer / producer / songwriter who forms half of the dynamic duo. In 2012, Eric, known around Atlanta, GA as EricMakesMusic, joined A&R organization TAXI. “TAXI has a great set of user forums. I got active immediately”. On the forums, he connected with producer/ songwriter Axel Bauer, a native of Austria. “We checked out each other’s music and decided we should try working together. Our very first collaboration was forwarded by TAXI to an LA music supervisor”. It wasn’t all smooth sailing. Eric and Axel both have strong talent and equally strong opinions - the time zone and language barrier just added to the challenge. At times, it seemed like the collaboration was doomed to fail. However, the two respected each other’s talent enough to work through the obstacles and forge ahead. Month’s later, they have a growing catalog of pop songs ready to pitch to artists and film/TV opportunities. Their tunes range from Dance/Pop (a la Taio Cruz, Calvin Harris) to Soulful Pop (a la Bruno Mars & Justin Timberlake) to Heavy Indie Rock (a la Foster The People). “Right now, all our energy is focused on expanding the catalog and getting as many placements and sync licenses as possible.”
