Biography
Born in Nigeria to a Nigerian mother and an English father, singer and poet Akure Wall grew up in London and gained some measure of recognition performing as a spoken word artist on the poetry circuit. A published author, her work often highlights social injustice and serves as political commentary. In 1996, Wall contributed the track "The Only Way Is Down" to the Audium Capsule, Vol. 1 compilation. Three years later, she released the album Afromorph Text through the Freakstreet imprint, backing her words with loops, samples, and live world music instrumentation. ~ Tom Demalon
