Biography
Emerging from the melting pot of Houston, Texas, Tincture blends the heavy, dreamy atmospheres of shoegaze, the tones of ’90s alternative, and the brooding weight of doom rock—drawing influence from bands like Windhand , King Woman , and True Widow. Coining the term “witchgaze” to describe their sound, Tincture merges heavy, entrancing textures with a unique approach to songwriting. Each track becomes a ritual of empowerment and reflection, treating songcraft as spellcasting. Their debut single, Punish, is a six-minute exploration of pain and self-awareness, establishing the band’s unflinching dive into the darker corners of the Self. Their second single, Bruja, delves into transformation and inner awakening, combining haunting vocals with fuzz-drenched instrumentation. From brooding verses to a crushing outro, Bruja builds with intensity and release. “Another remarkable contribution from a Houston band to the current shoegaze revival sweeping the underground scene. Bruja begins with thunderous guitars flashing across the evening sky at the perfect head-bobbing pace. The drums drive through the moody cloud overhead, setting the stage for an off-kilter and genuinely eerie lead guitar that plays a melody fit for any Wiccan ritual… The verses see the guitars soften and sparkle, while the vocals delicately weave their way around the neck of an unsuspecting sacrifice.” — Infinite Piss
