Biography
Ensemble Musica Nova is a French early music ensemble from Lyon, founded in 2000. Under the direction of Lucien Kandel, who became the artistic director and conductor in 2003, the group focused on early music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. The ensemble used original manuscripts and period musical rules to achieve historical reconstruction. Its performances occurred on national and international stages, and several of its recordings, including works by Guillaume de Machaut, Guillaume Dufay, and Johannes Ockeghem, served as musical references. The discography of the group includes the albums Flos Florum (2005), Missa Cuiusvis Toni (2007), Ballades (2009), In Memoriam, Messe de Nostre Dame (2010), Missa Prolationum (2012), Se Congie Prens, Chansons à Cinq ou Six Parties (2013), and Motets (2017).
