East Forest

Biography

East Forest is a musician, producer, speaker, and ceremony guide who uses sound and music to help explore the uncharted territories of inner space. His sound draws on original field recordings and a range of instrumentation that straddles the worlds of electro-acoustic neoclassical, electronic, ambient, and avant-pop. Works have appeared on Bright Antenna, Domino, Mercury KX, Tender Loving Empire, and Ghostly. “Lovingly” is his revolutionary over six-hour long-form musical guidance record. All of the music was recorded, improvised, and performed live within the context of guiding psilocybin ceremonies. “Lovingly” is the third installment in the East Forest Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner series. East Forest's film, "Music for Mushrooms," explores the transformative potential of music and ceremony in addressing global crises. The documentary serves as both a personal memoir and a visionary roadmap for collective healing and evolution. Since his debut in 2008, notable collaborators include Ram Dass, Jon Hopkins, Nick Mulvey, Peter Broderick, Duncan Trussell, Marieme, and techno pioneer ANNA. He tours internationally and also regularly leads retreats. His thought leadership, podcast, guided meditations, and music have been included in research and special projects with UCSF Neurosciences, Google, Johns Hopkins Neuroaesthetics, TEDx, Stanford d.school, Naropa, SXSW, and Yale.
