Biography
Born in London, raised in Zürich, NAUGHTILUS (a.k.a. Alex Macnaughton) has loved music all his life. Aged 8 he was given an electric keyboard, and taught himself to play chords by putting sticky labels on the keys. Later he picked up the ukulele, but never really found his flow until he hit his teenage years and began to explore the Zürich music scene, which he believes is one of the best and most underrated in the world. Fresh out of school, NAUGHTILUS took a holiday to Marbella, and after many nights of getting lost in euphoric vibes, fat basslines and sweet melodies, he knew that DJing was his route to music making. NAUGHTILUS makes music to uplift the people around him and to bring order amidst chaos. Like the shells that inspired the name, he believes music can be a shelter from the world, where we can be free with our own thoughts to dance and enjoy the moment away from the stresses of everyday life. He spends hours in his basement mixing, dancing and getting lost in the sounds. He is never without his headphones, always looking for new inspiration. NAUGHTILUS has his own weekly mix program on SoundCloud, which aims to regularly update his fans with vibrant sounds and new music. His Spotify presence will only increase in 2025, as he will look to collaborate with artists and record labels from around the world. He hopes one day to master playing the bagpipes like his Scottish dad, but for now, all he wants to do is to share his passion and DJ anywhere it takes him.
