Doza
Doza (born Anthony Mendoza) is a Los Angeles-based rapper originally from the San Fernando Valley of California. As a first-generation Filipino-American, Doza's musical journey began at age six, influenced by his parents' diverse tastes—his dad's love for the Eagles and his mom's passion for Whitney Houston. This eclectic mix, combined with the hip hop his older cousins introduced him to, ignited his love for the genre. Early on, Doza would record raps from the radio, memorizing and performing them for his mom, unknowingly laying the foundation for his future in music.
Growing up, Doza’s passion for music evolved as he experimented with different styles, even playing guitar in 8th grade. Despite his early affinity for rap, it wasn't until college that he fully embraced it as a serious pursuit, encouraged by friends who recognized his deep connection to the music. His sound is a distinctive blend of West Coast lifestyle rap, infused with elements from East Coast and Southern hip hop, reflecting his broad musical influences and cultural heritage.
Doza’s lyrics often explore the nuances of West Coast life, personal growth, and social issues, resonating with a diverse audience. Doza continues to forge his path in the hip hop world, aiming to elevate Filipino voices and bring his unique perspective to a global audience.
