The Adam Meckler Orchestra (AMO) looks like a traditional big band, but it sounds like something else. The brainchild of trumpeter and composer Adam Meckler, the AMO draws on the rich tradition of jazz music while pulling influence from hip hop, r&b, and pop music. At once honest and earnest, Meckler's music is filled with twisted melodies, and head-bopping grooves. Having recorded and/or toured with bands like Youngblood Brass Band, The Hornheads, Cory Wong, and Nooky Jones, Meckler's music is both funky and soulful. A refreshing twist on the big band setting that is deeply tied to the personality of Meckler and his stellar band. The AMO's debut album 'When the Clouds Look Like This' was listed among 2014's Best Jazz Releases by iTunes. They released Magnificent Madness to critical acclaim in 2019, and has since released Live in Minneapolis, a double album featuring the music of Magnificent Madness and artists like Toki Wright, Harjinder (Fatbook), JD Steele (Sounds Of Blackness), Cameron Kinghorn (King Pari), and Rex Richardson. AMO then followed with an EP called 'Music for the Water Walkway' featuring artists like Lucia Sarmiento, Nelson Devereaux, Omar Abdulkarim, Steven Hobert and others.
