British born kiwi, CHALKY is a multi-genre Producer and DJ with tracks ranging from Bass House to Drum and Bass. His EP “MAAD HOUSE VOL.1” premiered on New Zealand's biggest EDM radio station GEORGE FM and received an overwhelmingly positive response. GEORGE FM claimed “Our text machines are blowing up!” as his EP was played on air for all of New Zealand to hear. Following this, his track “GUNZ” was play-listed and added to “Nasty Bits” a Spotify editorial playlist which sees itself viewed by over 190k followers. His recent interview on IND.TV demonstrated CHALKY’s passion and motivation for music and his perspective on issues such as writer's block and overall challenges that artists face. He is quoted as saying “It's all about the vision, I need to view myself as the artist I want to be in the future. This way I’m holding myself to a standard and can’t let myself make excuses” CHALKY’s influences come from the community along with various music scenes and cultures. The visual aspect of the late 20th century acid house scene mixed with modern music, is where he finds his aesthetics and inspirations. The NZ underground music scene in his own community also plays a big part in the direction he’s heading as he sees artists push boundaries to create new movements in the industry. With new releases just around the corner, CHALKY has proven to his fast growing fanbase that there is always a bigger project to be anticipated.
