Yung heem (Raheem J. Coleman) is an independent hip hop artist who you cant put in a box. His versatility is emaculent. And his lyrics can be compared to the greats such as the like of nas and others. His story telling skills are unmatched. He began making music at 9 however, didn’t really start taking it serious until getting in the studio and recording til about 13. He recorded his first demo with his older brother at 14. Shortly after that, Yung Heem’s older brother was given a life sentence in prison. This influenced Yung Heem tremendously to move with a sense of urgency to make it. He (Yung Heem) was recently released from prison in 2023. He is the owner of the TrifeLivin Records Imprint which was founded by him in 2012. Yung heem is more then a rapper. First he’s a Muslim man. Second he’s of service for his people and all people also he’s a testimony for the youth of today. Recently adding the acronym to his name YUNG, Which stands for youths under new genocide. Expressing awareness of history for this modern era of today as we see young black teens dying from police brutality, drugs, and mass incarceration. Yung Heem created YUNG reinventing hisself, Due to him being effected by the system. He chose to transmute this idea which is usually looked at in a negative light.
