Your typical four-piece band from middle-school mates who started rocking somebody's dad's garage to the point neighbors would complain or even call the cops. But from Brazil. Formed in 2010 when drummer Felipe Martins joined the percussionless trio Juan Carvalho (vocals and bass), Tiago Wesner (guitar and vocals) and Gabriel Stein (guitar). Influenced by the pop-punk, skateboard and surf scene, they used to cover blink-182, Sum-41 and Sublime songs as they started to know themselves as musicians and make their own music.
In 2015 the band had to enter in hiatus and for eight years the status remained, until the long awaited re-encounter happened: the best mates got back together. Influenced by australian alternative rock scene they evolved their music and relationship.
Their debut single Getting Bald is a fun and happy tune about being in the late 20’s and pushing hard the willingness of staying young. While Wake Up, the following single, is a vibrant anthem that speaks to the desire for genuine experiences beyond the daily grind, encouraging to escape the routine and rediscover the joy in living.
RoyalSix’s musical identity can be definitely defined and captured by spinning their last record, 1983. A trip through a profound desire of being alive in other times. A surfy and happy song about the nostalgia of remembering the past, a time that the band wasn’t even born yet.
