Porctia Symone, a Charleston, South Carolina native and Southern Belle , discovered her passion for music within her family’s rich musical traditions. Inspired by her grandfather James Smith, who led a gospel band, she began honing her craft at an early age. Seeking broader horizons, Porctia moved to Jacksonville, Florida, collaborating with artists at Konfucius Records before moving to California to expand her horizons. There, she worked with AMP Studios alongside Grammy winner Godson “Chauncey” and with Dirty Bird “Brandon” of Bird Land Production, a Los Angeles-based producer. Collaborating with top industry producers, Portia honed a sound that celebrates her Southern roots. She toured the world as a backup singer for Lana Del Rey, gaining invaluable experience and refining her artistry. Now forging her own path, Portia has embraced Southern Pop, a genre that blends her upbringing with modern, country-inspired elements. With her unique voice and genre-bending style, Portia Symone is redefining what it means to be a Southern artist in the modern music landscape.
