NJ native Kyle Rapps has traded verses with the likes of Talib Kweli, Murs, and Action Bronson, but it was surfing that truly rerouted his life. After connecting with surf communities of color around the world, his music shifted—less about ego, more about healing, presence, and reclaiming the ocean as a space for Black folks and others pushed to the margins. His songs and videos have resonated in the surf world, landing him in Surfer Magazine and helping shape a new kind of cultural crossover. His newly released EP, Surf Tape, produced by Dan the Automator, features Coast Contra and Jarren Benton—a blend of real lyricism and textured sound that hits both the heart and the head.
