After five albums with rap trio Boogie Down Productions, Lawrence “Kris” Parker, a.k.a. KRS-ONE, kicked off his solo career in 1993 with Return of the Boom Bap's style-defining mix of bass-heavy beats, barbed verbal hooks, and samples galore.
