Biography
The YAYennings Quartet was born upon his move from NYC to LA in 2017. Jay and fellow Snarky Puppy bandmate, Bob Reynolds (John Mayer) were recording the album Culcha Vulcha near El Paso, TX in 2016 when they realized they had very similar interests in early west coast bebop during a late night jam session. Two months later, Jennings arrived in LA and started writing. With the help of old Texas friends residing in LA, Jose Perez(Poncho Sanchez) and Ross Schodek(Poncho Sanchez), rehearsals began in the spring of 2017. The YAYennings Quartet performs regularly around the greater Los Angeles area and with the release of their debut album Scott Ave, they will be spreading their music to a wider audience and performing soon in a city near you.
