Read morePropaganda
Propaganda’s music and prose is about divergence and connection. The rapper Bread and raised in Los Angeles, Prop witnessed the intersection of all things and celebrates it in each song. His music is like the man himself, the result of many elements coming together.
Prop spent most of his childhood in a predominant Latino neighborhood of LA. There was a sense of multiculturalism from the very beginning. His dad was a Black Panther, which also inspired the rapper’s worldview.
He went to college and graduated with degrees in illustration and intercultural studies. He taught high school for six years and had a hand in founding two charter schools in LA, one of which had a focus on the arts. Prop joined up with hip-hop collective the Tunnel Rats in 2003. By 2007 he resigned from teaching to pursue music full-time and began touring as a solo artist. He joined the Humble Beast family and unveiled a series of four albums that put his music on the map. Propaganda’s 2014 album, Crimson Cord, was released for free, but still managed to top several Billboard Charts. He’s toured with Krs-one, Murs, De La Soul and Lecrae, and played Warped Tour, Rock The Bells and Smokeout Festival.
Propaganda’s ideas stem from where he sits at the intersection. He observes how cultures cross and inspire one another, and he knows that we are all connected. He has worked with church leaders, and spoken out in meetings about global hunger and talked to politicians about police reform.
Read moreAndrei Irimia
Pianist and composer Andrei Irimia feels and creates music in an intimate connection with other arts. He is fascinated by how minimalistic piano music can generate spaces for introspection in the deepest corners of the human soul. His music reaches deep within, evoking feelings that linger.
As inspiration for his music, Andrei uses the magical beauty of nature and the kaleidoscope of human emotions. Melancholy is a constant in his music. He believes this is the gateway to a deeper knowing of the self. The constant remembrance of childhood, with its never-ending curiosity, is a source of Andrei’s creativity. His music expresses love, caress, and empathy, but also shows sorrow, grief, and suffering. It does so sincerely and authentically.
Since he was very young, Andrei has found that the piano’s melodic chords let him express his deepest feelings. They also let him communicate with the world in a deep and meaningful way. As a child, he was fascinated by the performing arts and how they can impact us through our senses. This fascination became the foundation of his core philosophy about music and the creative process.
His first solo album, “Nuit Minimaliste” (2019), is a tribute to French minimalist piano music. In 2022, he reached an important milestone in his career with the release of his second album, “All Strings Attached“. For 2024 Andrei is planning to release his third album, called “Necessary End”.
